A Celebration of Life for
Danny Riehle
~ Join us on June 5th at Monroe School to celebrate the life of Danny Riehle ~
It is with great sadness that we announce that Danny has passed away after a short battle with cancer. She was an inspiration to so many in numerous ways. As a mother, she was patient, caring and always looking for ways to help her children and grandchildren. As a teacher, she was a listener first. Some say she listened in a way that made everyone feel like the center of attention. As an educator, she was a pioneer - breaking ground before anyone with the idea that nature could teach us about the complex ideas normally found in a textbook.
~ Tell us your "Danny Story!" ~
Danny impacted so many people in her life. We are asking her friends, family, past students, colleagues and anyone else to submit their story about how Danny touched their lives.
Think of this as her last assignment!
~ The Living Classroom Learning Lab ~
Danny's life work cumulated in The Living Classroom Learning Lab - the ground breaking curriculum that has been used by District 181 for years. What started as a garden has been crafted into an accredited curriculum that helped Monroe School achieve national recognition, winning the 2018 U.S. Dept. of Education Green Ribbon Award.
District 181, in conjunction with the District 181 Foundation, is raising funds to complete the curriculum for online learning and to bring The Living Classroom Learning Lab to other District 181 schools. Please donate whatever you can to help us make Danny's dream a reality for more students with the tax deductible donation link below:
~ Sing along to Harry Chapin's "All My Life's A Circle" ~
One of Danny's favorite musical artists was Harry Chapin, and her favorite song of his was "All My Life's A Circle."
We hope to have everyone sing along to this great song. The lyrics are below with a video to practice along with.
All my life's a circle;
Sunrise and sundown;
Moon rolls thru the nighttime;
Till the daybreak comes around.
All my life's a circle;
But I can't tell you why;
Season's spinning round again;
The years keep rollin' by.
It seems like I've been here before;
I can't remember when;
But I have this funny feeling;
That we'll all be together again.
No straight lines make up my life;
And all my roads have bends;
There's no clear-cut beginnings;
And so far no dead-ends.
I found you a thousand times;
I guess you done the same;
But then we lose each other;
It's like a children's game;
As I find you here again;
A thought runs through my mind;
Our love is like a circle;
Let's go 'round one more time.
